Network Sprites

Network Sprites

Type
Audiovisual Object

Network Sprites are five memory objects, each housed in a digitally sculpted 3D-printed silk shrine. Within it sits a tiny screen powered by ESP32 and battery, displaying individual, unique looping visuals of disintegrating memories as a mini shrine. The objects are pulled from memory, as an effort to hold onto the strongest yet fading part of a sunny, tropical home: local orchids, the hum of an air conditioner and domestic landscapes, some personally recorded and some recreated, and then edited in Unreal Engine and TouchDesigner.

Network sprites were previously distributed across an ambient lounge at a music festival [[Meanwhile Easter at Gaffe]], forming multiple touchpoints while accompanying an Asian Futura Ambient set. They're created to be pockets of audiovisual networks, for intimate encounters during side breaks, away from main stages, something to notice while talking to a friend, or during a quiet moment.

Each object is portable and can be worn as a wearable, keychain or placed as an object at home.
